Mission Statement

The goal of environmental health at the University of Georgia is to safeguard the health of the campus community through education and awareness, oversight and compliance assurance. Environmental health seeks to prevent the outbreak and spread of disease throughout the population by the implementation of State guidelines and regulations, investigation and prompt coordinated action.

With over 30,000 students, plus faculty and staff, four dining halls, numerous campus eateries, large-scale athletic events, competition and recreation pools, opportunities exist at any moment for hazards to present. Therefore, food safety and water quality are at the forefront of public health concerns.
